Hot Lunch Program

Harvest Kitchen Hot Lunch Program

Harvest Kitchen is Ann Arbor’s premier farm-to-table meal delivery service showcasing chef-driven health-focused comfort foods. Harvest Kitchen has created a lunch program to specifically meet the needs of the Emerson community featuring healthy and diverse vegetable and grain-focused child-friendly meals in a 3-week meal plan rotation.

Sign-up Instructions:

  • Click on https://sendbottles.com/harvestkitchen/signup/customers/new to create a family account.
  • Provide a mobile phone number for weekly ordering reminders, alerts, and updates (this is how Harvest Kitchen will communicate with you).
  • Input your home address.
  • For the delivery option, choose your child’s classroom number. Contact the school if you don’t know your child’s classroom number.
  • Add a credit card for payment in the check-out screen under “Payment Information.”
  • If you have more than one child at the school who will be ordering lunch, click on “add another plan” at the top of the home page over the green “Complete Order” button.
  • Add a plan for each child.
  • You will receive weekly reminders when the new menus are posted and when the deadline is approaching. These alerts will have links to order from the new menu.
  • Menus are posted on Monday evening for the following week’s lunch. The ordering deadline is Wednesday by 9:00 p.m.
  • Make your lunch selections before the deadline. Check to make sure that both the order and classroom number is correct. Your stored credit card information will be charged.
  • Please contact Harvest Kitchen with any questions or concerns at info@harvest-kitchen.com or (734) 436-1052.

Important notes about hot lunch ordering through Harvest Kitchen:

  • Dietary concerns are taken seriously and options are available on Harvest Kitchen’s website.
  • Hot Lunch Program will not be available on school-wide pizza lunch days; pizza lunch dates can be found here.
  • Milk orders can be made through the business office by contacting Michelle Schefsky at mschefsky@emerson-school.org.
  • If school is canceled, Emerson will notify Harvest Kitchen as soon as the determination is made.
  • If parents know that a student is going to be absent on a hot lunch day, they must notify Harvest Kitchen 24 hours prior to the date of absence directly through the Harvest Kitchen portal.

Delivery questions should be directed to Kristin Davidson at kdavidson@emerson-school.org.

Billing questions should be directed to Harvest Kitchen either through the Harvest Kitchen portal or by emailing info@harvest-kitchen.com.

Health and Safety

Emerson continuously works to ensure the safety of our students, which include the following ongoing initiatives.

Drills
Emerson routinely conducts drills so students, faculty, and staff are prepared to react to emergency situations safely, efficiently, and effectively. These include fire drills and tornado drills, both scheduled and at random times, and ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) drills for responding to on-campus threats.
+ A record of Emerson’s safety drills is available here, as legally required.

Health and Safety Committee
Emerson has a Health and Safety Committee comprised of faculty, staff, and administrators, which meets monthly. This committee analyzes student injury reports, reviews and responds to concerns brought by community members, and ensures the completion of regular drills (such as fire, tornado, and ALICE). We try to work proactively (what can we do to prevent injury?) as well as reactively (what should have been done differently, and what can we change?). The committee’s goal is to routinize our examination of risk with a goal toward constant improvement.

Risk Task Force
The Board of Trustees maintains a Risk Task Force charged with consideration of all potential risks to Emerson’s students, employees, and equipment. From this review, the Risk Task Force both makes recommendations to the Head of School for action, as well as prioritizes suggestions for future capital expenses for increasing safety. This Task Force takes a strategic view of risk in the broadest sense, and its work is ongoing.

PERPETUAL ENROLLMENT AND DISENROLLMENT

Enrollment for students automatically renews until you tell us otherwise—no need to complete another reenrollment contract. This makes it easier for re-enrolling families without adding any extra work for those who don’t.

What to Expect

  • You will be notified of any tuition and fee adjustments, as well as financial aid awards, prior to the disenrollment deadline.
  • Your child’s enrollment will automatically renew and 10% of your total tuition for the school year will be non-transferable and non-refundable.

If You Don’t Intend to Reenroll
Complete an Intent to Enroll or Disenroll form through your SchoolAdmin parent portal. You won’t be billed, and your space will be made available for new applicants. Please take a moment to answer the questions on the disenrollment form, as we value your opinion and the input will help us to improve our programs here at Emerson.

Families will receive information on enrollment and disenrollment in early February.
