What year did you start at Emerson?
2021
Why did you want to work at Emerson?
I was immediately drawn to the spirit of open-ended inquiry. It’s true of the students, the parent community, and the faculty. There’s a great balance between mind, body, character, and creativity.
What wows you about Emerson?
How generous the spirit of human connection is across the entire community.
In one word, what is your working style?
Intentional
How would students describe you?
Responsive
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
The ability to make superior laminated pastry dough.
Favorite artist or band?
Ooooh, tough: I spent one career as a professional musician before turning to education. My family is replete with craftspeople and artists of various types: sommeliers, chefs, orchestral musicians, singers, writers, and visual artists. They are my first favorites because they devote their lives to expression and service. Musical artists? Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Sting, Steely Dan, Rufus Wainwright, Mary Chapin Carpenter. Bands? The President’s Own U.S. Marine Band (my alma mater). Other artists? John Williams, Stephen Fry, Cormac McCarthy, Steve Martin….. I could go on forever about this one.
What would surprise people about you?
My husband is a professional tubist.
What do you do when you’re not at Emerson?
I cook, bake, listen to music or books, watch/read murder mysteries, crunch the world’s problems with my husband over coffee, solve Wordle and Connections, and snuggle with my pug, Phoebe.
Who/what inspires you?
You do. Thank you for caring enough to read this.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Any ice cream is good ice cream.
If a movie were made about you, who would be cast to play you?
Well, me, of course.
Favorite quote, or anything else you would like Emerson families to know about you?
“If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”
