The Admissions Process

1. Schedule A School Visit
The best way to learn more about our school is by taking a tour. Sign up for an Individual Tour, a Small Group Tour, or a Young Fives/Kindergarten Info Session.

2. Submit an Application
It only takes a few minutes to complete the Emerson application. You can save your progress and return later, monitor the status of your application, and review your application anytime. There is a $60 non-refundable application fee, but if this creates a financial hardship, please contact us at admissions@emerson-school.org.

The application for the upcoming school year is available online beginning on September 30th.

3. Checklist Items
Once we receive your application, a checklist of items will appear in your parent portal. Request or upload academic records through the portal.

  1. Young Fives and Kindergarten: please upload progress reports, if available.
  2. 1st – 8th grade: please request copies of grade reports from previous/current school through the portal. Or, if you have complete copies of grade reports from the previous and current school, please upload them directly to the portal.

4. Attend A Classroom Visit
One of the final steps in the application process is the Classroom Visit.

  1. 4th – 8th grades: Classroom Visits are scheduled until the last school day in May.
  2. Young Fives and Kindergarten: we offer three Visit Day opportunities: January 30, February 11, or February 20.

5. Decision
Admissions decisions are shared in mid-March, after families have been notified about financial aid decisions in February. Any applications received after decisions have been made will be considered on a rolling basis, as space allows.

Important Dates and Deadlines

  • September 14, 2026: Application for 2027-2028 school year opens
  • December 15, 2026: Deadline for Financial Aid Applications

Because of small class sizes, many grades reach capacity, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible to ensure your child is considered for admission. Emerson is a rolling enrollment school, so there is no cutoff date for applications.
