What year did you start at Emerson?

Technically 2016, but back again 2025

Why did you want to work at Emerson?
Back in 2016, I wanted to work at Emerson because I had finally found a school that celebrated each child’s individuality and provided a community of support and collaboration on anything I had ever experienced. After having my oldest son and staying home with three small children for the past eight years, coming back in 2025, I want to work at Emerson because there is no better place on earth for an educator to be. Coming back to Emerson is like coming home. The supportive community, friendships, and parents together make every day at Emerson feel like endless possibilities of what we can do as educators in the classroom.

What wows you about Emerson?
It’s the community that feels more like a family. It’s the teachers that will do everything they can for each other, to go that extra mile to help each other out, to support one another through all of the ups and downs. It’s the parents. The timeless effort they put into supporting teachers and supporting their child’s educational development that quickly turns into the love of lifelong learning. It’s why I came back, after staying home and raising kids for eight years, it is the best job I’ve ever had, and even call it a job feels like a disservice, because as an educator at Emerson, it is so much more than that.

In one word, what is your working style?
Encouraging

In trying to answer like a true second grader, “Mrs. Pops is nice, funny, she makes me feel smart, and she thinks she is good at basketball”.

To be everywhere at once. So I can spend the maximum amount of time with each member of my family individually.

What do you do when you’re not at Emerson?

Who/what inspires you?
Dolly Parton, her positive attitude, values, grit, and understanding the importance of literacy during the first six years of a child’s life makes her my greatest inspiration. She funded and established The Imagination Library where in certain areas of the country children get a free book delivered to them in the mail every month from the time they were born until they turned six years old.

Non-dairy coconut stracciatella from Blank Slate

If a movie were made about you, who would be cast to play you?
