Roll the calendar back 2500 years; the world is flat.  From that ancient starting point, the middle schoolers, a band of enlightened thinkers, work toward a new idea.  The world is round!  They gather in togas at the Emerson obelisk at autumnal equinox.  Over ensuing weeks, they propose and discard methods to prove their startling hypothesis.   They  work together to construct a planetarium, and utilizing computer data, they design a scale to place the stars accurately in the ancient sky.  Led by their teacher, they engage in Socratic inquiry and debate.  Propelled by their deepening interests , they research astronomical topics and make presentations to their peers.

SCIENCE is an ongoing and ever-expanding discipline.

Life Science, earth science, and chemistry are
the    components of a nine-year spiraling curriculum. The hands-on program is designed to increase   interest in science, develop skills through the use of the scientific method, and ensure a strong knowledge base in every student.
