The goal of "Building Bright Futures: The Campaign for Emerson School"
is to raise financial resources necessary to expand and improve
the physical plant of the school. The transformation of the facility is a milestone in the school's history that will enable Emerson to realize its vision of bright futures for its students today and well into tomorrow.

Campaign Milestones
Since the start of The Campaign for Emerson School: Building Bright Futures, the school
has raised over $2.3 million, enjoying generous support from many donors. As a result, the new K-2 wing is an inviting and lively entry point for the school’s youngest students. The wing will undoubtedly contribute to the enrichment of Emerson families for generations to come.
The Library Media Center (LMC)
In the fall of 2007, the Board of Trustees agreed that the final goal of the Campaign will be the renovation of the existing library into a Library Media Center worthy of the school’s stellar reputation in the community. An important aspect of the planning is to ensure that the renovation is completed in the most cost effective manner possible. The expected project cost is estimated at $1,000,000. To date we have raised $560,000 for the project, including a generous grant from The James A. & Faith Knight Foundation.
The Design for the LMC
We are currently working with the Brighton, MI firm, Lindhout Associates architects aia pc. Principal, Piet Lindhout unveiled the proposed design at the April 2008 ESPO meeting.
The renovated LMC will feature:
> Technology improvements throughout premises
> Updated shelving, lighting, seating and carpeting
> Improved bathrooms

Meet the Challenge!
In January 2009, a dear friend, who wishes to remain anonymous, stepped forward with an $80,000 challenge gift for the school.
Emerson must raise an additional $80,000 by February 28 to receive the challenge gift.
We encourage every family to stretch to the best of their ability with a one-time gift or a pledge, payable over a period of up to three years.
The Emerson Community
Emerson has received the full support of the Board of Trustees and 94% of our faculty and staff, along with significant commitments from families and friends. Philanthropy is an integral part of the independent school philosophy, and now we are poised with the unique opportunity to ensure Emerson’s legacy.
The school is striving for broad participation from the Emerson community. The facility we enjoy today exists because of the kindness and generosity of the parents and friends who came before us. We all have a stake in strengthening the foundation of Emerson’s educational excellence and securing its legacy.
If you have any questions regarding the LMC renovation or the Challenge Gift, please contact Sue Johnson, Pat Adams (Head of School), or any member of the Campaign Committee or Board of Trustees. They will be glad to answer any questions you have.
