Patricia Adams Earns Highest Honors
Library Media Center named for Head of School

April 24, 2009

Ann Arbor - Emerson paid heartfelt tribute to School Head, Patricia Adams, this evening, announcing that the soon-to-be renovated Library Media Center will be named in her honor. The news, delivered by Trustee and Capital Campaign Co-chair Faith Cuenin at the Annual Auction, was met with huge applause and many teary eyes. Taking in the audience's overwhelming appreciation and approval, Pat, usually unflappable, was momentarily speechless.

Pat ends her 12 year tenure as Head in June. The Patricia C. Adams Library Media Center is a fitting tribute to a school leader who, among many accomplishments, has shepherded significant campus improvements. Thanks to her vision and determination, a K-2 wing was constructed, the Middle School refurbished, the main hallway opened, common spaces added, carpets replaced and much more. Because of Pat's steady leadership, Emerson is a brighter and better place of learning.

The school is grateful to the anonymous challenge gift donor who had the distinction of naming the new space. The donor was the single largest contributor to the Capital Campaign, and an early supporter of its goals.

Pat Adams will be dearly missed, but her legacy will be forever known by both current and future Emerson families. The choice of naming the LMC in her honor is one for which we all stand and applaud.
