Medieval Merriment & Learning
4th Graders celebrate with a fine feast

February, 2009

Ann Arbor - It was a medieval moment in the great hall of Emerson (the library transformed!) - a maypole dance, a show of swords, a feast worthy of kings. Merlin and Eleanor of Aquitaine were there and King Arthur himself (our own 4th grade teacher, Rob Bauman) raised a goblet on high.

For weeks each 4th grader delved into the life and times of a notable medieval figure. Work included a research paper and the study and creation of a costume. The class made pennants, shields, tableware and examples of illuminated art. And when the work was done they celebrated in true medieval style.
