The librarian is happy to offer suggestions of books that would be useful and appreciated in the library. However, if a child or a family knows of a book that has special significance, that might be the best gift of all, especially if our library does not yet own that special book. Please check the Emerson Library catalog (Insert link here to catalog) to check to be sure your special donation will not be a duplicate of something already in the library collection.
SPECIAL BOOK DONATIONS
Throughout its history, Emerson’s library has acquired many wonderful books through donations from members of the Emerson community as well as from friends outside of the school. The most common donations honor the birthday of an Emerson student. Some families have even suggested that birthday party guests bring books for the library instead of gifts for the birthday child.
Books are also donated to honor special life events such as a graduation, confirmation, or Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Books to honor the memory of a loved one who has passed away allows that person to continue giving to our students for years to come.

OTHER DONATIONS
The library is happy to accept gently used, age appropriate books for possible inclusion in our collection. After carefully selecting books for the library, the librarian will offer the remainder of the donation to the Emerson faculty and staff. Any remaining books will be saved for the annual spring used book sale or donated to a charitable organization.
A part of the fun in the library is the daily contest in which students answer questions about historical and other special aspects of the day to earn small prizes. Some days more than 50 students win the contest. That is where the kindness of other comes into play. Contest prizes are the little toys, doodads and gizmos that seem to collect in every home with children. All contest prizes are donations from generous families who are willing to offer such toys a new home in the contest prize box. Your trash will soon be someone’s treasure.
