Specifically for parents and teachers is a section of non-fiction addressing topics of special interest to parents and educations. Included in this section are parenting tips, information on children with learning differences, books on giftedness, and discussions of issues and concerns in education. The call numbers of all books in this section are designated in our catalog with TPR for Teacher/Parent Resource.
All members of the Emerson community, including all current students and their parents, are encouraged to create a library account and utilize our facilities to their fullest.
The library collection contains approximately 13,000 volumes and is designed to serve the students, teachers, and families of our community. Fiction for students in all of our grade levels is available in both hardcover and paperback versions, including novels, easy readers, and picture books for everyone. The non-fiction collection is equally expansive and offers materials at all reading and interest levels on topics across the spectrum. While much of the non-fiction collection has direct curriculum ties, it also offers plenty of titles of individual interest. Our print reference materials include encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries, and many other general reference works. Emerson School currently subscribes to two on-data services. The library offers students assistance and guidance in using the many free data base and informational retrieval services available on the Internet.
